What Is the Palworld TCG?
The game is officially called the Palworld OFFICIAL CARD GAME , although most players naturally refer to it as the Palworld TCG.
It is a physical competitive card game for two players based on Palworld. Pals are the stars, but the game also turns other familiar parts of Palworld into cards, including Gears, Events and Structures.
The result is more than simply putting Palworld artwork onto a standard card-game template. Your Pals can fight, but they can also be assigned to work at your base, connecting the card game to one of the most recognizable systems from the original game.
Each player uses a 50-card Main Deck and a separate 10-card Soul Deck. When building your own deck, you can choose up to two of the four main colors — Red, Blue, Green and Purple — and add Colorless cards as well.
If you are completely new to trading card games, however, you do not need to worry about building a deck immediately. That is what the Trial Decks are for.
Dawn of Palpagos: The First Palworld Card Set
Dawn of Palpagos is Booster Pack 01, or BP01, and the first full booster set released for the Palworld card game.
According to the official product specification, the set contains 100 main card types across C, U, R and RR rarities, plus 61 parallel card types. Each booster pack contains 7 cards, and a booster box contains 12 packs.
More than 50 Pal card types appear in the set, alongside characters such as Zoe and Lily and cards representing equipment, events and structures. One especially nice detail for fans is that the cards use original illustrations created for the card game rather than simply reusing screenshots from Palworld.
That makes Dawn of Palpagos interesting even if you have no plans to play competitively. For many fans, it is simply another way to collect their favorite Pals.

Palworld TCG Rarities Explained
This is probably the most confusing part when you open Palworld cards for the first time.
The ordinary Dawn of Palpagos card pool starts with four main rarity codes:
| Rarity | Meaning |
|---|---|
| C | Common |
| U | Uncommon |
| R | Rare |
| RR | Double Rare |

Those are the main-set rarities listed in the official product specification.
Then come the parallel cards.
A parallel is an alternative version of an existing card, typically with different artwork or a more premium visual treatment. Dawn of Palpagos uses several parallel rarity codes, including:
SR, OSR, SP and SSP
This means one Pal can appear in a normal version and also have one or more collectible parallel versions.
For example, the official card database currently lists only four SSP cards in Dawn of Palpagos, including Chillet – Dragon Whisperer.
You may also come across SSS in the official card database. It sits outside the straightforward C → U → R → RR progression, so it is better to think of these special rarities as distinct collectible treatments rather than trying to force every abbreviation into one simple ladder.
What About TSR and TSP?
These belong to the Trial Decks rather than the standard Dawn of Palpagos booster rarity structure.
Each Trial Deck includes one card replaced by a special parallel version, with the official products using Trial Deck Super Rare (TSR) and Trial Deck Super Parallel (TSP).
So when comparing rarities online, always check whether you are looking at a booster card or a Trial Deck card.
Are Palworld TCG Pull Rates Guaranteed?
Be careful with exact pull-rate claims.
You will already find collectors discussing case ratios and estimates for how frequently particular parallel cards appear. However, Bushiroad does not publish a complete official table guaranteeing that every rarity appears once per a specific number of boxes.
Community opening data can still be useful, but an observed ratio is not the same thing as an official guarantee.
If you are opening Dawn of Palpagos purely to chase one specific card, keep that distinction in mind.
Fan-Favorite Pals in Dawn of Palpagos
For many Palworld fans, rarity is actually the second question.
The first is:
“Does my favorite Pal have a card?”
Fortunately, the first set already contains plenty of familiar faces.
Chillet – Dragon Whisperer
We obviously have to start with Chillet.

Chillet appears in Dawn of Palpagos as Chillet – Dragon Whisperer, card EBP01-025. The regular version is a Blue Pal, but collectors can also find premium OSR and SSP versions.
The SSP version is particularly notable because Chillet is one of only four SSP cards currently returned by the official Dawn of Palpagos card database.
Apparently becoming one of Palworld's most lovable creatures was not enough. The long blue dragon also had to become a chase card.
If you already know Chillet from our Top 10 Cutest Palworld Pals ranking, this probably feels appropriate.
And if the card-sized version is a little too small, there is always our Giant Chillet Plushie .
Katress – Abyssal Sorcerer
Katress also received plenty of attention in Dawn of Palpagos.
Katress – Abyssal Sorcerer appears as a regular card and in OSR and SP parallel versions.
For fans of Palworld's darker and more magical character designs, Katress is one of the standout Pals to look for in the first set.
Pengullet – Yearning for the Sky
Tiny, determined and still willing to be launched into danger, Pengullet – Yearning for the Sky also appears in Dawn of Palpagos.
Its regular card is accompanied by an SR parallel, giving Pengullet fans another version to hunt for.
Relaxaurus – Hungry Gunner
And then there is Relaxaurus – Hungry Gunner, a name that summarizes Relaxaurus surprisingly well.
It appears as an RR card as well as OSR and SP parallel versions. The combination of a gigantic cheerful dinosaur and absurd firepower remains very much intact in cardboard form.
These are only a few examples. Dawn of Palpagos contains more than 50 Pal card types, so browsing the set is half the fun if you already have favorite characters from the game.

How to Start Playing the Palworld TCG
If you want to actually play the game, do not start by buying random booster packs and hoping they somehow turn into a deck.
The easiest starting point is one of the official Trial Decks.
The two launch decks are:
Each includes:
- a complete 50-card Main Deck
- 10 Soul Cards
- a paper playmat
- a play guide
- a life counter
- Material and Ingredient counters
- one Dawn of Palpagos booster pack

In other words, you can actually start playing immediately.
Which Trial Deck Should You Choose?
The official recommendation gives the two decks slightly different personalities.
If you like a more direct style built around overpowering your opponent, Red・Blue is the recommended starting point.
If you prefer planning ahead and playing more strategically, Green・Purple is likely the better fit.
For two beginners learning together, getting one of each also lets you see how differently the color combinations can play.
Do You Need Booster Packs to Play?
No.
A Trial Deck already gives you a playable deck.
Booster packs become useful when you want to modify that deck, build something new or simply collect additional cards and parallels.
That distinction is worth remembering if this is your first TCG:
Trial Deck = ready to play.
Booster Pack = expand and collect.
Dawn of Palpagos 1st Edition vs 2nd Edition
This is one of the most useful things for collectors to know right now.
On September 4, 2026, the official Palworld card game site announced additional shipments of the 1st Edition Dawn of Palpagos during September, followed by a 2nd Edition scheduled for late October.
Cards from the second edition will be easy to identify: they will feature a Roman numeral II in the bottom-right corner.
There is another interesting detail about the original release.
Bushiroad has confirmed a printing error involving a misspelling of “Palworld” on the first booster packs and boxes, and says that it will be corrected in future reprints.
That does not automatically make the first printing more valuable — collectible prices are determined by the market — but it does give collectors a clear physical difference to watch for.
If you care about specific printings rather than simply collecting the artwork, check which edition you are buying.
What's Next for the Palworld TCG?
The card game is already moving beyond its first set.
Legends Awaken — Booster Pack 02
The second booster set is Legends Awaken , scheduled for October 30, 2026.

The official specification currently lists another 100 main card types plus parallel cards, using Red, Blue, Green, Purple and Colorless cards.
With BP02 arriving only three months after Dawn of Palpagos, the Palworld card game is expanding quickly during its first year.
Eternal Ascent Trial Decks
Two additional Trial Decks are scheduled for December 18, 2026:
They will introduce two more ready-made color combinations for new and existing players.
We'll keep this guide updated as new Palworld TCG sets and products are announced.
Is the Palworld TCG Worth Collecting If You Don't Play?
Yes — assuming you already enjoy Palworld and like physical collectibles.
You do not need to understand tournament strategy to enjoy a binder full of your favorite Pals. The original illustrations, multiple parallel versions and character-focused cards give the set plenty of appeal outside competitive play.
You can try to complete Dawn of Palpagos, collect only premium parallels, focus on one color or simply hunt every card featuring one favorite Pal.
A page full of Chillets is a perfectly reasonable collecting goal.
We may be slightly biased on that one.
